Why it's actually 35 in blog years

Five years ago today I hit publish on my very first blog post. Five years is a long time to still be doing any one thing, and in fact, this blog has probably been the one constant in my life over this half decade. So, I just wanted to thank you, dear readers, for sticking around, and for reading and leaving comments through two countries, four cities, six apartments, and four sets of roommates. Through two Master's programs and countless part-time jobs. Though better and worse, sickness and health, poorer and yes, even poorer. Through the highs of Doritos and the inevitable lows of rejectionNot to mention so many first dates that I had to stop counting a long time ago.

Seriously, I don't think I would be half as ok as I am today without this blog as a steam valve, a forum, and a sounding board. So, with that in mind, what can I do for you today, dear readers? Do you have burning questions you'd like to ask me, topics you'd like me to write about, loose ends fraying in the wind you'd love to see tied up? Do you double dog dare me to quit my job and start a school for French-speaking goats? Well don't tempt me, 'cause I just might. So will it be truth? Dare? I am, as they say, à vous.

  1. My question is have you ever thought about moving back to Paris? I don't think I was a reader when you were living there so am curious how the experince was. Did you like Paris; French Men and would you ever up sticks and go back there? I read a lot of French blogs and ex-pats; particularly Americans seem to be thriving there at the moment...

  6. Happy blogiversary! I've had mine since 2005 and I'm not sure I would have been able to get through these years in France without it and the amazing support from fellow bloggers like you.

Your blog is (and always has been) one of my favourites, and I hope you continue blogging for many years to come. I'm not sure where mine is going, and what I will do it with considering it was only supposed to be a temporary, travel blog, but I'm torn between continuing to write about my boring life in France and stopping completely. But blogs become such a big part of our lives that it's hard to imagine not posting anymore. We'll see, but in the meantime, I'll continue to be a faithful reader of your blog, and poster on mine :)

  7. Five years is like 35 years in blog years - so true! Congratulations. I'll read anything you write my dear. For serious, and you know why? Because you are a very good writer.

I dare you to write more :) Not here necessarily. But somewhere.

  9. I also say - Go back to Paris! Regardless, I enjoy reading your blogs. Yours was one of the first blogs I discovered when I started writing mine about four years ago, and I have enjoyed it ever since.

  10. Do you keep in touch with Harry/Henri...old french boyfriend whose name possibly doesn't even start with h?

I think you should go back to Paris too, but that is unrelated to my inquiry about H.
