Why I want you to FAQ me

So, that went pretty much how I expected. Ultimately I had two takers on the D.C.-based meet up idea, both of whom are real-life friends of the decade-or-longer variety. Which leads me to one of two conclusions:
  1. I really need to work on my blog presence in the mid-Atlantic region.
  2. My habitual short-selling of myself and setting of low expectations worked a little too well. I said I am only marginally more awkward in real life, guys. What I failed to mention is that in certain situations, said awkwardness is inversely related to the amount of alcohol I have consumed, which correlates positively with significantly higher levels of fun. But I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
Anyway, it was sort of a shot in the dark. I won't take the post down like I threatened to, though, because y'all, at least those of you not in the mid-Atlantic region, anyway, said such lovely, sweet things. (Those of you in the mid-Atlantic region, I can only assume, were backing slowly and quietly away, thankful for the relative anonymity of the Internet.) And on the plus side, if I ever find myself thirsty in Austin, Connecticut, Vancouver, Illinois, Singapore, New York City, or Pittsburgh, I know just who to look up. (And I mean that in the non-creepiest, I will come fiiiiiiiind you way possible.) You guys are the best!

In other news, I am getting blog-antsy. I feel like changing things up a bit, and I'm looking at this new pages feature Blogger has. Like, maybe a FAQ page? What do you guys think? Do you have any burning questions you've been just dying to ask me? Or can you think of any specific topics I should address on a FAQ page? Ignoring for the moment my blatant misuse of the term FAQ, as QSPAMOABC (Questions Some People Asked Me Once After Being Coerced) doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Let's do it. Come on and FAQ me, baby.

  1. That sounds fancy and I think you should do it.

Wait... Am I supposed to ask you a question right now? Like in the comments? That is high pressure!

I will think about this and come back.

  2. Are you still in touch with Fred or Herve? or any Parisian friends?

  4. What do you miss most about living in France?

(perhaps you have already answered this in previous posts but I was too lazy to go back and check)

    So second question is:

What inspires you (to write, to teach, to travel etc)?

  5. And, listen, thirsty is fine, but I want you to track me down if you're hungry or tired or even just BREATHING in Connecticut, OK?

FAQ: Maybe you've already explained this, but why did you start a blog, and how did you come up with the "Why" theme (which is, of course, brilliant)?

    Oooooh the shenanigans!!!

  7. How many boyfriends did you have so far? (the ones you can remember, of course hehehe)

  8. Here's from Singapore again..I want to know what gave you the courage to write all the things you did here. Obviously, it can make one feel very vulnerable to have your feelings and thoughts made known. Have you met anyone who has taken advantage of this and how did you deal with it? :)

P.S: You inspired me alot with your writings by being so real, very endearing :)

  10. I don't have any questions for you because I feel like you answer everything in your blog posts. You already put everything out there, so in my opinion - no FAQ page necessary. But I didn't want you to be sad that there weren't many questions...

  11. Sarah--I wasn't intending the FAQ page for regular readers, but more as a way for a new reader who has just stumbled upon my blog to get a quick idea of what I am all about. So yeah, you may not have any questions for me, but are there certain things you think I should have on a FAQ page that would be helpful to new readers?

  12. I'd actually love to see a breakdown of your boys, especially anyone named James. Sometimes they pop back into your life and I'm not quite sure which fella we're talking about, even though you link to their backstories.

  13. OK then, definitely you should put why you started the Why. And then maybe some info on your time in France, why you are where you are now, and maybe a list of funny/interesting things about yourself (ex. "I only like watching Jepoardy with someone else because if I watch by myself no one will be impressed by all the random trivia I know.")

  14. I agree with the boys and ex's breakdown :)

  15. Some general FAQ type stuff that I think could be good for readers to know 1) Where/how did you come up with the "why" theme for this diary? 2) Also, you can never go wrong with a "What do I like" question. 3) What do you see as your biggest accomplishments in life? Regrets? 4) What's one thing you'd change about you/your life if you could?

  16. Why did you abandon your blog? :(
